The Senior Human Factors Engineer is responsible for ensuring that any user-tangible components are easy to use, safe for their intended use, and safe for the intended users. This will be done applying a systematic usability engineering process, per IEC62366-1. The ideal candidate also has experience with designing graphical user interfaces.  Reports to: Manager of Systems Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Elicit user needs from user populations (e.g. clinicians, patients, and caretakers) through interviews, surveys, focus groups, and usability studies
  • User task analysis with identification of critical tasks and hazards
  • Plan and execute formative and summative evaluation of PDI’s Controller’s UI, surgical and clinical procedures
  • Design Patient app’s user interface; preferably visual design
  • Prepare and manage PDI’s Usability Engineering File

Qualifications

  • Analytical skills of reviewing and interpreting feedback from user populations in an unbiased manner
  • Experience with executing IEC 62366-1
  • Background in human factors engineering
  • Educational background in Industrial Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Psychology, or equivalent
  • Able to easily collaborate with responsible design engineers

Working Conditions

  • Job requires occasional domestic/international travel to clinical settings and remote sites to interact with user populations
  • Candidate ideally based in Portland; remote location negotiable
